Dr. Audrey Berman got her BSN from the University of California, San Francisco, and went on to get her MS in physiologic nursing and Ph.D. in nursing from the same institution. Sailing a Course through Chemotherapy: The Experience of Women with Breast Cancer was the title of her dissertation.

She worked in oncology at Samuel Merritt Hospital before starting her teaching career in 1976 in the Samuel Merritt Hospital School of Nursing's diploma program. She was a part of the establishment of the master of science and doctor of nursing practise programmes as well as the transfer of that program into a baccalaureate degree as a faculty member.

Dr. Berman has taught a range of medical-surgical nursing courses in prelicensure programs over the years. She is now the dean of nursing at Samuel Merritt University (a Sutter Health affiliate) and the president of the California Association of Colleges of Nursing from 2014 to 2016.

Audrey has visited nursing and healthcare institutions in Botswana, Brazil, Australia, Israel, Japan, Germany, Korea, the Philippines, the Soviet Union, and Spain, among others. She is a site visitor for the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and a member of the American Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau. She has twice served as an item writer for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing's NCLEX-RN exam.

Audrey Berman has given talks on nursing education, breast cancer, and health-care technology at local, national, and worldwide levels. In the 1990s, Dr. Berman wrote the screenplays for more than 35 nursing skills videotapes.

She co-authored the seventh, eighth, ninth, and tenth versions of Fundamentals of Nursing and the fifth, sixth, and seventh editions of Skills in Clinical Nursing with Shirlee Snyder etc.

Geralyn Frandsen

Geralyn Frandsen

Dr. Geralyn Frandsen is the director of the undergraduate nursing program at Maryville University. She has considerable experience with patients at all stages of life, from paediatrics to the elderly and end-of-life care, over the course of her career. Professor Frandsen worked as a nurse at the Visiting Nurse Association of Greater St. Louis for a decade before earning her doctorate in higher education from Saint Louis University, where her research focused on mentorship.

She has a master's degree in community health nursing and nursing education, and she is still working on building the finest mentoring strategies for nursing teachers and students. Dr. Frandsen is also the co-author of Abrams' Clinical Drug Therapy: Rationales for Nursing Practice, a pharmacology textbook along with Kozier & Erb's Fundamentals of Nursing series.

Shirlee Snyder

Shirlee Snyder

Dr. Shirlee J. Snyder earned her associate degree in nursing from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. She received a master's degree in nursing with a minor in cardiovascular clinical specialisation and teaching from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.

After moving to California, she joined the faculty of the Samuel Merritt Hospital School of Nursing in Oakland. She is an associate professor alumna of SMC.
Shirlee earned her doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of San Francisco. Dr. Snyder lived in Portland, Oregon, for 8 years, teaching ADN at Portland Community College. The themes she discussed locally and globally were multimedia in the classroom and supporting ethnic and minority student success.
In 1998, Dr. Snyder accepted a position as nursing program director at the Community College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas, Nevada.

She jumped at the chance to teach the inaugural nursing class in the baccalaureate nursing program at Nevada's first state institution, which opened in 2002.
She was dean of the School of Nursing at Nevada State College in Henderson from 2008-2012.

In 2009, Dr. Snyder visited Manila and Cebu, Philippines, to offer all-day seminars to 5,000 nursing students and 200 nursing instructors. She belongs to the ANA and Sigma Theta Tau. NLEAC and the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges have used her as a site visitor. She is now retired.
